As a company, we strive to reflect the broadest spectrum of customers, partners, and the communities in which we work. To do this, we have implemented a company-wide Minority/Women/Small Business Enterprise (MWSBE) policy with a 10% goal for MWSBE participation in all our projects. We strive to maximize MWSBE inclusion at all times, and regularly exceed our 10% goal. To this end, we have been recognized nationally for our efforts, and we are proud that it has become a differentiator for Austin in the marketplace.
Austin is 100% owned by our employees through our employee stock ownership program, or ESOP. It’s a great source of pride for our 6,000+ employee-owners that we have a vested interest in the day-to-day success of our company. To sustain a thriving workforce, we provide comprehensive job training, career development, health benefits, and wellness programs. Overall, this ownership structure creates an environment of caring and engagement where all have an opportunity to grow and succeed.
Our award-wining Mentor/Protégé program works with Minority, Small, and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWSBE) firms to advance their initiatives through best practices, networking and opportunities to work with our team. We hold seminars that address contracts, bonding and insurance, bid and award processes, administrative and site logistics, innovative cash management strategies, lien rights and claims avoidance, LEED/sustainability, Lean construction, safety, marketing, and technology. More than 400 such firms have graduated from our program, with more than $3 billion spent with those firms.
Austin is also proactive in establishing joint ventures, partnerships, and staff augmentation with MWSBE firms, and we encourage minority purchasing by prime subcontractors and vendors.
